It’s starting to look like the dog days of summer are behind us. Cooler weather has arrived, rain is in the forecast, the pools are opened up again, and, most importantly, there are fish in the system. The future is looking brighter for Wild Atlantic Salmon fishing!

Over the years, August has traditionally been a slower month due to warmer weather. With changing summer weather patterns, however, July and August can now be a bit of a toss-up. Some years, we have ended up having some of our best fishing of the entire season, especially during the latter part of August.

2023 is a good one to remember, with fishermen enjoying some fantastic fishing on both wet and dry flies. August is certainly the month for those who enjoy fishing dry flies like Bombers and Daryl Tucker’s Peach Carter Bugs.

For Lodge Owners and Guides, there isn’t much better than waking up after a warm summer to the fresh smell of coffee and that first hint of fall in the air. August is also a great month to get prepared for the fall season ahead.
