This past week started out with some gorgeous fish being landed throughout the Miramichi system and fishes have had lots of action between landing a couple, hooking and losing a few and rolling a bunch more!  We ended up receiving another bump in river height on Tuesday which doesn’t help fishing too much but certainly does help the fish move further on up river in their journey to the headwaters. With the rain and cool temps this June it has been excellent conditions for salmon to keep on the move and as the week went along fishing slowed down some. But the water peaked and is now dropping again and is getting back down to what it was before the rain so looking like great conditions for fishing in the week ahead! We have had reports already today of more fish being hooked as locals, guides and fisherman are all out just hoping to hook the next big one!

We always have some wonderful guests at our lodge who return each year and none better then a true gentleman, 88 year old, Hal Howard. Hal came this week with his wife Alice, his son Tig and his daughter in-law Susan, all from Albany New York. Hal has been coming to Miramichi river for 35 seasons and we are already looking forward to his return next year for his 36th season

As mid June rolls around, the Miramichi river usually sees a steady healthy run of fresh salmon and we sure are looking forward to keeping the 2022 season going on an upward trend after a great start to the season! We’ll do our best to continue to keep you updated on the river and fishing conditions as the season progresses!
