The past two weeks on the Miramichi have brought outstanding conditions to kick off the summer salmon run. Each day on the river has seen more salmon and grilse entering the system, and while it took a little time to start putting fish in the net consistently, the action has been steady. Even with a few long-line releases, our guests have been into fish and making memories that will last a lifetime—giving them all the itch to return!

We’ve been fortunate to hook into some spectacular June salmon—often the strongest fighters and the freshest fish of the year. With only one thing on their minds—heading upriver to reach their home waters—these fish offer an unforgettable challenge.

What’s making guides and locals especially excited this season is the strong showing of grilse so far. With the first real weeks of the summer run beginning , 2025 seems to be off to a stronger start than recent years. In the words of Brad Burns: “The somewhat better than most recent years run of salmon and grilse in the SW Miramichi continues.”

This past weekend, we hosted our first large group of anglers for the summer run salmon season—a weekend birthday celebration mixed with some incredible fishing. Our guides and the hardworking Country Haven team put their hearts into every guest experience, ensuring each trip is a memorable success.

Looking ahead, the long-range forecast (with just one exception tomorrow) promises excellent conditions for salmon fishing on the Miramichi. With fresh fish entering the system daily, there’s truly no better time to be on the water—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned veteran. Come and experience the history, the river life, and the thrill of pursuing the King of Game Fish: the Atlantic Salmon.
