As June comes to a close, we look back on what has been one of the most memorable starts to a Salmon Season we've experienced. While the number of Salmon landed was lower than many expected, we welcomed an incredible Group of Guests and outstanding Anglers from around the world, making June one of our most successful months ever.

River Conditions were generally excellent throughout the month. Water levels remained higher than normal, and cool water temperatures created ideal conditions for migrating Atlantic Salmon. We were seeing fish moving through the river system almost daily from early June onward. Rather than holding in the lower river, many Salmon continued their journey upstream, with consistently good reports coming from the upper Miramichi. This was also reflected in the return counts, which were stronger than the number of fish landed in the lower stretches might suggest.

We are fortunate that nearly 80% of our Guests return year after year, but this June also brought many first time visitors. It was a pleasure to welcome anglers from around the globe, including twin brothers Anders and Thomas Christensen from Aalborg in Denmark. Their single handed casting skills were simply exceptional, among the finest we have seen in many years.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who visited us this June. Your enthusiasm, friendship, and passion for Atlantic Salmon and Country Haven made this an unforgettable month for all of us.

Most of the Salmon entering the Miramichi so far have been multi sea winter fish, with some truly magnificent specimens among them. As we turn the calendar to July, we can expect the first larger runs of Grilse to begin entering the River. It may also be time to tie on some smaller patterns, with Green Machine White Tails becoming increasingly effective choices.

July is a wonderful time to experience the Miramichi. The river is full of life, fresh salmon continue to arrive, and every cast holds the promise of that unforgettable Wild Atlantic Salmon. From now through the close of the Atlantic Salmon season on October 15, the Miramichi will continue to offer exciting opportunities to connect with Wild Salmon. We look forward to welcoming you to Country Haven and helping you create memories that will last a lifetime.
