As with most Julys Grilse started arriving and as most Julys lately so did the heat wave slowing down the hookups. However, the determination of the fish to move upriver continued. This year's Salmon numbers of the counting trap nets of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) are better than they were at the same time last year.

One of the biggest challenges in Atlantic Salmon fishing is that the number of fish in the river does not always reflect the number of fish being caught. It can be hard to believe, especially for Anglers who have spent several days on the water without a hookup, that many Salmon are moving through the Miramichi. Yet reports from throughout the river system continue to confirm that a strong number of fish have already travelled more than 100 kilometers upstream this season.

After 27 years in business, our number one priority remains the same: seeing our guests enjoy the experience, connect with the river, and land Wild Atlantic Salmon. With today's rapidly changing water levels, temperatures, and weather patterns, predicting fishing conditions from one week to the next has become increasingly difficult. It is not unusual to see one group fish for days without success, only to have the next group land multiple salmon on their very first morning.

We celebrate every Salmon landed and share the disappointment of every guest who leaves without the fish they hoped for. Atlantic Salmon fishing has always been a challenge, and those who pursue these remarkable fish know that every cast holds the promise of an unforgettable moment. That passion and perseverance are what make Atlantic Salmon Anglers truly unique.

Over the past few days, cooler weather and better water conditions have improved the fishing. Anglers throughout the Miramichi have enjoyed several hookups, including bright, fresh Salmon with sea lice.

More fish are now moving into the holding pools on the Cains River and the Main Southwest Miramichi, where our guides expect some good fishing in the weeks ahead. The #8 Green Machine White Tail and Undertaker have been the most successful flies recently.

If the good conditions continue, we are looking forward to enjoyable Wet Fly and Dry Fly fishing until the end of the season on October 15.
