As the second week of May wraps up, spring fishing on the Miramichi has far exceeded expectations. Anglers are landing more trout than we've seen in years, and the striped bass run is already proving to be one of the strongest yet. On top of that, Atlantic salmon are still being hooked, with some truly beautiful specimens landed—much to the surprise and delight of both guides and guests after last season’s low warm water and lower returning numbers .

This week, we welcomed back longtime friends of Affordable Adventures, Paul Carlton and his crew, returning for their 24th season! Over the years, they’ve hooked hundreds of salmon and brookies to striped bass—and this year has been no exception.

One of the most heartwarming highlights of the week came from our youngest angler yet. Lily Coughlan, just 2 years old, managed to hook her very first Atlantic salmon while her proud dad was snapping a photo of her holding the rod. With a little help from mom, they were able to land the fish and get a quick picture—a memory that will last a lifetime!

As water temperatures continue to rise, more striped bass will push upriver toward their spawning grounds, flooding the estuary as they do every May. Although Atlantic Salmon is our # 1 species by far that wefish for & hopefully always will be. In May & June we also do daily trips targeting these fish on the fly, and on some days, it’s not unusual to catch hundreds. It’s truly world-class fishing and an experience every family should see to get a taste of the different species & what the Miramichi River has to offer.

Whether you're after striped bass, shad, big brook trout, or the king of fish—the Atlantic salmon—get in touch with us! We’d love to help you create memories that last a lifetime.
