As we wrap up the last couple of weeks of September, fishing on the Miramichi River has turned out better than expected. Leading into the recent rainfall, conditions were surprisingly good, and while the rain was much needed, it wasn’t quite as much as we had hoped for. Some of the holding fish moved out with the higher water, but encouragingly, the past few days have brought fresh fish arriving again in the lower stretches of the river. With more rain still in the forecast, we remain hopeful for a strong finish to the season on October 15th.
Our UK group enjoyed one of their best trips in recent years, with most of their salmon taken on Dry Flies—a true highlight for any angler and always a thrill to witness on the Miramichi.
This week, we are delighted to welcome back our friends from Tight Lines Fly Fishing Shop, along with many returning guests from New Jersey. Andrew and Nancy Moy bring not only their enthusiasm but also their exceptional casting instruction, which adds to the experience for everyone fishing with us. We also welcomed anglers from across the U.S. and from Nova Scotia, all of whom shared in the beauty of salmon fishing during the brilliant colors of our prime Autumn Glory—a highlight of the fishing season every year.
Flies of choice this past week have included #8 and #10 Bear Hair, Carter Bugs, and the ever-reliable Flame Thrower.
