The spring Atlantic Salmon season started off slow due to muddy water with lots of debris although the weather was beautiful with full sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. After opening day however conditions slowly improved and the water clarity is excellent now as is the fishing. Anglers headed out this morning with loads of optimism and sure enough it turned out to be a great day to be on the river, with cooler air temperatures and clearer water and the bite was on with all of our anglers hooking multiple fish throughout the day.

Country Haven Guides Ian Cavanagh & Colby Donovan enjoying a day off and having a little spring salmon fun too!

After the long winter, anglers are excited to hook into their first salmon of the season and there have been a few awesome moments already early in the season including, father and son Art and Nathan Mesher from Ontario landing a doubleheader side by side! The MacKinnon sisters from Fredericton and Montreal out fished their mother and father and I’m sure they won’t soon let them forget that! And Roger Rubeor from New Hampshire, landed a dandy hook bill salmon, the first male of the season hooked. Today, we also had several first-time salmon anglers land their limit which is a great way to get hooked on the Miramichi and the salmon fishery! And a couple of our Guides enjoyed a day off … and went fishing because they just couldn’t resist given the great fishing conditions!

With the late ice out and some changing scheduled of clients we do have some availability for the remainder of this week, and we would be happy to get you, your family and friends on the river and into salmon! If Interested please send us a email or call at 1 506 843 9010.
