April 15th, 2025 Opening Day
As another season has started guides, outfitters, fly shops, and all salmon anglers are fired up to get back out on the river system and try their hand at the king of game fish!
We received a well-timed dose of rain just before the season opener, bumping water levels up roughly 2 feet and adding some much-needed color to what had been turning into low, clear water. While a bit of debris moved through the system during the day, it didn’t stop anglers from getting into fish.
From top to bottom, their was salmon being hooked throughout the system. Numerous fish over 40 inches were landed, making for an exciting and action-packed opener!
Overnight rain, combined with snowmelt, is expected to bring the river levels up again over the coming days setting the stage nicely for the rest of our spring season. These will help shape ideal river conditions, giving anglers a great shot at connecting with Atlantic salmon dropping through the system.
With the long-range forecast calling for some beautiful days ahead in April, there’s truly no better time to be on the Miramichi, chasing the great and amazing king of spring fishing the Atlantic salmon.
