The 2026 fishing season on the Miramichi is officially underway - and already one week in. As always, time moves quickly when you’re back on the River.

During the first days rising water levels and some dirt in the river brought some challenges for both anglers and our guides. However, as the River began to settle and drop, conditions improved rapidly - and so did the fishing.

The water is now clearing, and more fish are being hooked throughout the system each day. As expected, Grilse are showing up following last season’s strong Grilse run, and it’s very encouraging to see a solid number of large, healthy adult Atlantic Salmon in the mix as well.

During this first week, we welcomed Guests from across Canada, eleven U.S. states, and four countries (England and Sweden among others) including a returning group from the Anglers Club of New York.

Looking ahead, optimism is further building up. With a later ice-out, a cooler start to the season and conditions we’ve seen in productive years before, there’s every reason to believe the best fishing is still ahead, extending well into May as fish hold longer in the system.

There’s plenty of fishing time left on the Miramichi. Spring remains a special time, getting back on the water, shaking off the winter rust, and once again pursuing the legendary King of Game Fish: the Wild Atlantic Salmon.
