August 1st, 2025
Overall, July brought a mix of challenges and successes. While fish numbers were strong—especially the high number of grilse on both the Main Cains and Renous Rivers—the warm weather once again proved to be a limiting factor. That said, compared to June, July offered noticeably better fishing conditions.
Anglers who timed their trips with the right water levels and cooler spells were rewarded with solid success. In fact, despite the tough days, this July may have been one of our better ones in recent years in terms of conditions and fish activity.
We were pleased to welcome back Peter Graham from PEI and Roland Fitzgerald from Yarmouth for their second trip of the season. This time, both anglers had much improved results, landing fish on both wet and dry flies.
Looking ahead to August—a traditionally drier month—we’re hopeful for more rain to keep the rivers in good shape. With favorable conditions, August has delivered fantastic fishing in the past, including years like in 2023.
We're looking forward to the cooler days of fall and another exciting season ahead. A warm thank-you to all our returning guests—we can’t wait to see you again soon.
