So far, August hasn’t delivered much to write home about in terms of fishing. Warm temperatures and low water levels led to temporary closures of both pools and woods in most of New Brunswick.

That said, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. The warm weather brought summer in full swing to the Miramichi, with plenty of returning guests and first-time visitors enjoying cottages, canoeing, boating, tubing, and the many summer events hosted throughout the region. It’s been a fantastic time for those soaking in river life, even if the fishing was slow.

The better news for anglers especially is that the rivers and woods have now reopened. While water levels remain low, rain is now forcasted for the weekend and the water is cool, and conditions are still decent on the lower stretches of the Main River system That said, a good rainfall would go a long way toward improving fishing across more of the river and tributaries, particularly to access our wide selection of private upstream pools.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the weather and looking forward to more favorable fishing conditions as we approach the fall season.
