With the pools now open again, we’ve officially kicked off our fall fishing season! The water levels across the system are still low, but noticeably cooler which is great news for fishing conditions. We're fortunate to be located on the lower stretch of the main river, where many of our low-water pools are in great shape for the fall runs.
We started the season by welcoming back returning guests Ariel & Shya Kane from New Jersey, USA
their second of three trips planned for the season! They had an exciting start, landing 4 fish, losing 4, and rolling dozens more on Bombers and dry flies. Shya landed his first-ever fish on a Bomber, and we captured an amazing shot of Ariel mid-action bubble and all!
Also joining us were returning guests Laurie & Glen Gale, along with family Marissa & Nathan Sherwood. It was the first trip for the Sherwoods, and they brought some beginner’s luck with everyone either hooking up or landing fish over the weekend!
The hot flies for the weekend included small black wets, Blue Charms, Royal Wulffs, and of course, Bombers. Conditions were especially good for Bomber fishing, making it the perfect time for newcomers to try them out.
We had a few showers over the weekend that raised water levels by a couple of inches a welcome change. The long-range forecast is calling for more rain next weekend, which we’re definitely hoping for. More rain means fresh fish moving in and better conditions both upriver and in the tributaries.
Here’s to a great start and an even better fall season ahead!
