This week started with better conditions and we saw more fish entering the system each day. As a result everyone had much higher expectations to start the week but optimism was short lived as the temperatures kept the water warm and kept us on track for our warmest season ever. Every week we have the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful and interesting guests from around the world and this week was no exception. One of those guests was Steve Young from Pulaski, NY who first visited the Miramichi in 1962 while attending Boy Scout Camp. He recalled staying in the hills of the Holmes Lake area so Guides Tyler & Colby took Steve and his friends back to where it all began 62 Years ago and he was able to reminisce. And he was able to fish and see places that he never thought that he would get the opportunity to see again, bringing back wonderful childhood memories.
As the temperatures rise again & the salmon fishing slows, the salmon that have arrived are starting to hold up more now in cold water brooks & pools. We are all hoping for rain and cooler temperatures, which is all it will take to trigger some good summer fishing. It looks like we may not have to wait too long for that rain as up to 35mm is in the forecast for later in the week. Based on this season so far one thing we know is that the best fishing is yet to come! Tightlines all from the beautiful SW Miramichi River and your friends at Country Haven Miramichi!
